Description
Hytera BD612i IP66 Rugged — DMR + Analog MIL-STD-810G — 16-Hour Battery
The rugged, heavy-duty member of Hytera's BD5x family — IP66 dust-tight and high-pressure water jet protection, AI-based 30dB noise suppression, tactile no-look controls, and DMR Tier II digital performance built for construction, industrial, and outdoor environments.
The Hytera BD612i is the ruggedized evolution of Hytera's legendary TC6 and TC610 analog radio series — bringing full DMR Tier II digital performance to the durability standard that made the TC6 a job-site staple. Where the BD502i and BD552i carry an IP54 rating suitable for rain and dust exposure, the BD612i steps up to IP66 — fully dust-tight and resistant to high-pressure water jets from any direction. It is designed and tested to MIL-STD-810G for shock, temperature extremes, vibration, humidity, and salt fog. A large forward-facing speaker with water-porting technology delivers loud, clear audio in noisy industrial environments, and AI-based digital voice enhancement suppresses background noise by up to 30dB — making outgoing voice intelligible even in machinery-heavy settings. Ergonomic tactile buttons allow no-look PTT and emergency activation without taking eyes off the work.
Available in VHF (BD612i-V1) and UHF (BD612i-U1) variants. Available at ITFactory.ca — Canada's trusted source for Hytera two-way radios. The BD502i and BD552i are also available at ITFactory.ca for less demanding environments.

Who Is This For?
The BD612i is for crews and organizations that operate in genuinely harsh environments — construction sites, manufacturing plants, outdoor industrial operations, mining, oil and gas, utilities, and any setting where an IP54 radio is not enough. It is also the natural choice for TC6 and TC610 users who want to move to digital without giving up the ruggedness they rely on.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between IP54 (BD502i/BD552i) and IP66 (BD612i)?
Both numbers refer to the IEC 60529 Ingress Protection standard. The first digit (5 or 6) rates dust protection — IP5x means dust is limited but some entry is permitted; IP6x means fully dust-tight with zero ingress. The second digit (4 or 6) rates water protection — IP x4 means resistant to water splashing from any direction; IP x6 means resistant to powerful water jets from any direction. In practice: IP54 handles rain and incidental water exposure well. IP66 is required for environments involving high-pressure hose-down cleaning, spray from machinery, or sustained direct water exposure. Choose IP66 if your environment involves wash-downs or heavy spray; IP54 is sufficient for most commercial and light-industrial use.
Is the BD612i the right upgrade from the Hytera TC6 or TC610?
Yes — the BD612i is designed specifically as the successor to the TC6 and TC610 analog series. It maintains the same rugged build philosophy and physical format while adding full DMR Tier II digital capability. TC6 and TC610 users will recognize the ergonomic layout and durability. The BD612i can be programmed to operate in analog mode for communication with remaining TC6/TC610 units in a mixed fleet, making it a practical migration path rather than a hard cutover.
Does the BD612i need to be programmed before use?
Yes. The BD612i requires programming to configure channels, frequencies, tones, and features before it is operational. ITFactory.ca offers radio programming at a nominal fee — contact us before or after your purchase to arrange programming for your deployment.
Should I choose VHF or UHF?
UHF (400–470 MHz) penetrates buildings, structures, and obstacles more effectively — the better choice for mixed or indoor-heavy environments. VHF (136–174 MHz) propagates further in open outdoor terrain — preferred for large outdoor job sites, farms, and areas with minimal structural obstacles. For construction sites with both open ground and multi-floor structures, UHF is typically the more versatile choice. If you are replacing a VHF TC6 or TC610 fleet, the BD612i-V1 allows a like-for-like frequency migration.

Radio Licensing Note The Hytera BD612i is a licensed two-way radio. In Canada, operating a two-way radio on licensed frequencies requires a Radio Authorization issued by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). The radio functions without a licence, but commercial operation on licensed frequencies without authorization is not permitted under the Radiocommunication Act. For licensing information, visit ised.canada.ca. ITFactory.ca offers radio programming at a nominal fee — contact us to arrange programming for your deployment. |
