Dual Dash Cam
4K Front + 1080p Rear
Rearview Mirror Mount
The premium dual dash cam that replaces your rearview mirror — 4K front recording, 1080p rear with backup assist, touchscreen display, built-in DVR, and a 32GB card included.
The GekoGear Orbit D400 is a premium dual-channel dash cam that mounts over your existing rearview mirror — replacing the standard mirror display with a touchscreen that shows a live rear camera feed. The front camera records at 4K resolution for the sharpest possible footage ahead, while the rear camera provides 1080p Full HD recording and a backup assist mode that activates the rear camera view on screen when reversing. A built-in DVR manages both channels simultaneously, and a 32GB microSD card is included to start recording immediately.

How the Rearview Mirror Mount Works
The D400 clips over your vehicle's existing rearview mirror using included straps — no permanent modification required. The touchscreen display replaces the mirror glass as your rearview display, showing the live rear camera feed from the camera mounted at the back of the vehicle. The original mirror remains in place underneath, so removing the D400 leaves the vehicle exactly as it was.
This design keeps the dash cam integrated into the cabin rather than mounted on the windshield, giving the front camera an unobstructed view and keeping the driver's sightlines clean. When reversing, backup assist mode activates the rear camera view automatically.

Key Features
|
4K Front Camera — Maximum Resolution The front camera records at 4K ultra high definition — the highest resolution in the GekoGear Orbit lineup, delivering the sharpest possible footage of the road ahead. Greater detail means more legible licence plates, clearer road signs, and higher-quality evidence for insurance and legal purposes.
|
1080p Rear Camera with Backup Assist Mode The rear camera records continuously at 1080p Full HD. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, backup assist mode automatically activates the rear camera view on the touchscreen — functioning as a backup camera display to assist with reversing and parking.
|
|
Rearview Mirror Replacement Mount Clips over the existing rearview mirror using included elastic straps — no tools, no drilling, no permanent modification. The touchscreen display replaces the mirror view with a live rear camera feed. The original mirror remains underneath, fully accessible if the unit is removed.
|
Touchscreen Display An integrated touchscreen on the mirror unit provides direct on-device control of camera settings, playback, and channel switching — without needing a separate app or phone. Intuitive touch navigation for adjusting settings while parked.
|
|
Built-In DVR — Dual Channel Management The integrated DVR manages both front and rear camera channels simultaneously — recording, loop management, and G-sensor emergency file protection across both channels from a single unit.
|
G-Sensor Emergency Recording The G-sensor detects sudden impact, hard braking, or rapid swerving and automatically locks the current recording segment as a protected emergency file — preventing it from being overwritten during loop recording regardless of card capacity.
|
|
Loop Recording — Always Current Continuously overwrites the oldest footage when the microSD card fills up, ensuring the most recent footage is always captured. G-sensor protected files are excluded from overwrite.
|
32GB Included — Expandable to 128GB A 32GB microSD is included and ready from the first drive. For longer recording history, higher-capacity cards up to 128GB are supported. microSD cards are available separately at ITFactory.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the backup assist mode replace a factory backup camera?
Yes, functionally. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the touchscreen display automatically switches to the rear camera view — showing what is behind the vehicle to assist with reversing and parking. For vehicles that did not come with a factory backup camera, the D400 adds this functionality through the rear dash cam. The quality and usefulness are comparable to a factory backup camera display.
Will it fit my vehicle's rearview mirror?
The D400 uses elastic straps to clip over the existing mirror — it is designed to fit the standard rectangular rearview mirrors found in most passenger cars, SUVs, and trucks. Very large mirrors on some trucks or vans, or unusual mirror shapes, may not fit securely. The elastic strap system accommodates a range of mirror widths without tools or permanent modification.
Is 4K overkill for a dash cam — is it worth the upgrade from 2K?
4K provides noticeably more detail than 2K at the same viewing distance — particularly at longer ranges ahead where licence plates and road signs are smaller in the frame. For incident documentation purposes, higher resolution means more legible plates and more detail in wide-angle shots where a specific vehicle may be small in the frame. 4K files are also larger, so a higher-capacity microSD card is recommended for extended recording. Whether the upgrade from 2K is worth it depends on your priority — for maximum evidence quality, 4K is the better choice.
How much footage will 32GB hold with 4K front recording?
4K recording produces larger files than 2K or 1080p. With dual-channel 4K front and 1080p rear recording, a 32GB card typically holds approximately 2–3 hours of combined footage before loop recording begins overwriting the oldest files. For drivers who want a longer recording window, a 64GB or 128GB card is recommended. microSD cards are available separately at ITFactory.ca.
