BD552i vs BD502i — Which Do You Need?

OLED Single-Line Display
A clear 0.91-inch OLED display shows the active channel name or number and zone at a glance — a significant practical upgrade over the BD502i's display-free design. Workers can confirm their active channel without guessing, reducing mis-communication from accidental channel bumping. OLED provides excellent contrast in both bright outdoor and dark indoor environments.

256 Channels — 16 Zones
256 channels split across 16 zones of 16 channels each — 128 analog and 128 digital. This scale accommodates complex multi-department, multi-site, and multi-function deployments where different teams, floors, buildings, or operational areas each need their own channels. Zone-based organization keeps navigation simple for users while administrators maintain complete channel flexibility.

Built-In Bluetooth — BT Variants
The BD552i-BT-U1 and BD552i-BT-V1 include integrated Bluetooth — enabling wireless pairing with Bluetooth earpieces, headsets, and audio accessories from Hytera's BD5x accessory range. Hands-free operation without a cable — particularly valuable for hospitality staff, security personnel, and anyone who needs both hands free during their shift. Not available on the standard U1 and V1 variants.

Dual Mode — Analog and Digital DMR Tier II
Operates in both analog conventional and DMR digital modes, configurable per channel. Communicate with existing analog radios on analog channels while using full DMR capabilities on digital channels. Supports group calls, private calls, and all-call with PTT ID in digital mode, plus DMR Tier II repeater operation for extended site coverage.

TDMA — Up to 22-Hour Battery Life
DMR TDMA technology cuts transmitter active time in half versus analog — delivering up to 16 hours (standard 1500mAh battery) and up to 22 hours (optional 2000mAh extended battery) in digital mode. The same battery chemistry and performance as the BD502i, in the BD552i's expanded platform.

Audio Equalizer — Clear Voice in Any Environment
An integrated audio equalizer adjusts low, mid, and high frequency gain to optimize received audio for the ambient environment — clear in quiet offices, loud enough to cut through machinery noise on the job site. Digital encoding and TDMA error correction maintain audio quality up to the edge of signal range.

IP54 and MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G
IP54-rated against dust and water splashing from any direction. MIL-STD-810 tested for temperature extremes, shock, vibration, humidity, and temperature shock — the same durability standard as the BD502i, in the BD552i's more featured chassis.

Scan, VOX, Emergency Alarm, and Pseudo Trunking
Priority scan monitors a designated channel while scanning others. VOX enables hands-free transmit via external accessory. Emergency Alarm (programmable) sends an emergency signal to the group or dispatcher. Pseudo trunking automatically assigns available channels from a pool to reduce congestion in large radio deployments.

Micro-USB Charging and Programming
Charges and programs via standard Micro-USB — no proprietary charging dock required. Compatible with the full Hytera BD5x series accessory ecosystem including speaker mics, earpieces, multi-unit chargers, and carry solutions.

3-Year Warranty — Radio
3-year manufacturer warranty on the radio. Battery and accessories carry a 1-year warranty. The BD552i is also compact and lightweight — easy for all-day carry without fatigue.
