All six variants include the full HP56X feature set — colour LCD display, 512 channels / 32 zones, IP67, AI noise cancellation, ARC4 digital encryption, text messaging, lone worker, dual knobs, and USB-C. The only differences between variants are band (UHF or VHF), and whether GNSS satellite positioning or Bluetooth is built in.

Not sure which to choose? If you do not need GPS fleet tracking or wireless earpieces, the standard U1 or V1 is the right choice — it is not a stripped-down version, it is the full HP56X radio. Add GNSS if dispatch needs to see where your team is. Add Bluetooth if your team uses wireless earpieces or you want to program the radio via smartphone.

HP56X vs BD-Series — When to Step Up

1.45-Inch Colour LCD Display — 240×320
A full-colour LCD display shows channel name and zone, battery level, signal strength, operating mode (analog or DMR), scan status, GNSS, Bluetooth, and text message notifications — giving users full situational awareness of radio status at a glance. The colour display makes the HP56X significantly easier to navigate than the BD series, particularly in multi-zone, multi-department deployments where channel context matters.

512 Channels — 32 Zones
512 channels organized across 32 zones — capable of accommodating even the most complex multi-site, multi-department, multi-function deployments. Stadiums, hospitals, industrial parks, large campuses, and multi-building facilities can dedicate zones per building, floor, or function without running out of channel capacity. Zone navigation via the on-screen zone list keeps the experience practical for field users.

IP67 — Fully Submersible to 1 Metre
IP67-rated — fully dust-tight and protected against temporary submersion in up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes. A meaningful upgrade from the BD6x series' IP66 (water jet resistant) and BD5x series' IP54 (splash resistant). Suitable for environments involving full submersion risk, including outdoor operations in standing water, flood conditions, and wash-down procedures.

AI-Based Noise Cancellation — 0.18μV Receiver Sensitivity
AI-based digital noise cancellation suppresses background noise in the transmitted audio for clarity in loud environments. At −122dBm receiver sensitivity (0.18μV), the HP56X delivers exceptional range and ability to receive weak signals — maintaining connectivity at the edges of coverage where lesser radios drop out. Extended range performance is also supported by improved antenna gain and reduced attenuation in the H-Series platform design.

Optional GNSS — G Variants
The HP56X-G-U1 and HP56X-G-V1 include integrated GNSS positioning — GPS and other global navigation satellite systems. Radio location is reported to dispatch software for fleet visibility, lone worker check-in, and location-based emergency response. Battery life is 15 hours with GNSS off and 13 hours with GNSS on, both at the 5/5/90 duty cycle.

Optional Bluetooth 5.2 — BT Variants
The HP56X-BT-U1 and HP56X-BT-V1 include Bluetooth 5.2 BLE+EDR — supporting both audio accessories (wireless earpieces and headsets) and data connectivity for programming via the HyTool Radio Manager smartphone app. BT data connectivity allows channel and parameter programming via smartphone without a PC or USB cable.

USB-C — Charging and Programming
USB-C replaces the Micro-USB of the BD series — faster charging, more durable connector, and compatible with the same USB-C chargers used for modern smartphones. Serves as both the charging and programming port.

Dual Dedicated Knobs — Volume and Channel
Separate physical knobs for volume and channel control allow fast, direct adjustment without navigating menus — critical for field workers who need to change channel or volume quickly. The ergonomic dual-knob design is a professional-grade standard found in higher-tier radio platforms, not available on the BD series.

ARC4 Digital Encryption + Analog Scrambler
Digital channels support ARC4 encryption for secure voice — preventing casual eavesdropping on digital transmissions. Analog channels include the standard analog voice scrambler. For organizations with sensitive operational communication requirements, ARC4 provides a meaningful layer of security beyond the analog scrambler alone.

Text Messaging, Lone Worker, and Safety Features
Two-way text messaging between radios enables non-voice communication for quiet environments, confirmation messages, and non-urgent information exchange. Lone Worker monitoring triggers an automatic alarm if the user fails to respond within a configurable period — critical for safety in isolated or hazardous work locations. Emergency alarm, man-down (motion-based emergency), and Priority Interrupt (licence required) round out the safety feature set.

Licence-Enabled Advanced Features
Optional software licences unlock Priority Interrupt (override lower-priority transmissions), Radio Disable/Enable and Remote Monitor (remotely disable a lost or stolen radio), and XPT single-site digital trunking (efficient channel use across large multi-radio deployments). These features are not available on the BD series and distinguish the HP56X as a scalable professional platform.

MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G — Built for the Field
Tested to MIL-STD-810 across six standard revisions for temperature, shock, vibration, humidity, and environmental durability. The polycarbonate housing provides excellent abrasion and heat resistance. Operating temperature range: −30°C to +60°C.
