Description
Hytera BD552i DMR Digital + Analog — 256 Channels OLED Display — Optional Bluetooth
The step-up from the BD502i — same rugged DMR dual-mode platform with a single-line OLED display, 256 channels across 16 zones, and optional built-in Bluetooth for wireless earpieces and hands-free operation.
The Hytera BD552i is a professional commercial DMR two-way radio that builds on the BD502i's proven foundation with a significantly expanded feature set for larger or more complex deployments. Where the BD502i offers 48 channels across 3 zones, the BD552i provides 256 channels across 16 zones — accommodating multi-department, multi-site, and multi-function operations with room to grow. A single-line OLED display confirms the active channel and zone at a glance. The optional Bluetooth variants (BD552i-BT) add built-in Bluetooth for pairing wireless earpieces and audio accessories — enabling hands-free operation without a cable. Like the BD502i, it supports both analog and DMR Tier II digital modes on the same radio for seamless mixed-fleet communication.
Available in four variants — see the model selector below. Available at ITFactory.ca — Canada's trusted source for Hytera two-way radios and accessories.

Choose Your Variant
All four variants share the same 256-channel OLED display platform. The only differences are band (UHF vs VHF) and Bluetooth (built-in or not). All are DMR Tier II + analog dual-mode. |

Who Is This For?
The BD552i is the right choice for organizations that have outgrown the simplicity of the BD502i — multi-department facilities, larger properties, hospitality operations needing Bluetooth audio, or any deployment where a display and more than 3 zones of channels are required. It is also ideal for security teams and workers who need hands-free operation via the Bluetooth variants.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the BD552i and the BD502i?
The BD552i adds three meaningful upgrades over the BD502i: a single-line OLED display for channel confirmation, 256 channels across 16 zones (vs 48 channels across 3 zones), and optional built-in Bluetooth on the BT variants. The core radio platform — DMR Tier II + analog dual-mode, IP54, MIL-STD-810, 16–22hr battery, VHF/UHF band options — is shared between the two. Choose the BD502i for simpler deployments that do not need a display, more than 3 zones, or Bluetooth. Choose the BD552i for multi-department sites, facilities needing wireless audio, or any deployment where channel confirmation via display matters. Both are available at ITFactory.ca.
Do I need the Bluetooth variant?
Only if you plan to use wireless Bluetooth earpieces or headsets. The BT variants (BD552i-BT-U1 and BD552i-BT-V1) include built-in Bluetooth for pairing with Hytera's BD5x-compatible Bluetooth audio accessories — enabling fully wireless hands-free operation. If your team uses wired earpieces or external speaker microphones via the 3.5mm audio jack, the standard U1 or V1 variants are sufficient. The BT variants are the same radio in every other respect — same channels, display, DMR, and IP rating.
Does the BD552i need to be programmed before use?
Yes. The BD552i requires programming to configure channels, frequencies, tones, zones, and features before it is operational. Programming is done via the Micro-USB port using Hytera's programming software. ITFactory.ca offers radio programming at a nominal fee — contact us before or after your purchase to arrange programming for your deployment.
Should I choose UHF or VHF?
UHF (400–470 MHz) penetrates buildings, walls, and structural obstacles more effectively — the standard choice for warehouses, hotels, schools, retail environments, and mixed indoor/outdoor sites. VHF (136–174 MHz) propagates further in open outdoor terrain — preferred for farms, large outdoor construction sites, and areas with minimal structural obstacles. If in doubt, UHF is the more versatile choice for most Canadian commercial and institutional deployments.

Radio Licensing Note The Hytera BD552i is a licensed two-way radio. In Canada, operating a two-way radio on licensed frequencies requires a Radio Authorization issued by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). The radio functions without a licence, but commercial operation on licensed frequencies without authorization is not permitted under the Radiocommunication Act. For licensing information, visit ised.canada.ca. ITFactory.ca offers radio programming at a nominal fee — contact us to arrange programming for your deployment. |
